Tayberry Trojans Swim Team, who were part of Dundee Rotary annual Swimmarathon  on Sunday 18th February.

This year we are trying very hard to raise as much money as possible to buy a refrigerated van which will really help our training cafe at Dovetail move into external catering with a bang and sustain that part of the business. More importantly it will increase the number of training places we can offer to people who are very far from the employment pipeline usually with a health barrier but not always. We have helped people who have been carers and from criminal justice.

Many of the people Tayberry work with need an experience to try out work in a supportive environment. We have supported some individuals into employment  within Tayberry Cafe through funding streams such a Scottish Employment Re-tension Incentive money ( SERI) or Community Job Scotland ( CJS). Other individuals have used the experience to directly progress into mainstream employment. Those who have benefited from either SERI or CJS funds have needed that time and space to develop and everyone who we have funded this way has progressed into mainstream employment. This is  an independent training cafe that is not funded in any way from government and hence we can often provide individualized placements for people who have difficulties accessing centrally funded programmes because of the stage they are at in their journey.
